Colectomy colostomyDepending on the individual disease there are two types of surgeries: the terminal colostomy (Sigma colostomy) and the double-barreled colostomy (transverse - colostomy). The terminal colostomy (Sigma-colostomy)This removes the final Stomaanlage, the anus with sphincter and a small part of the colon. The artificial output is created in the left abdomen, usually in the range of the S-shaped segment of bowel. At the terminal colostomy almost the entire large intestine is preserved, that why, its function (= thickening of the chair) is hardly restricted. The chair usually has the same characteristics as before the surgery. The double-barreled colostomy (transverse - colostomy)This is usually temporary (for a few months) designed to provide quiet deeper intestinal sections. The delivery takes place in the right or left upper abdomen: The surgeon pulls the intestine through the abdominal wall in a sling, then the bowel is opened and fixed to the abdominal wall. This creates a stoma to the lead and a section leading away from the stoma to relieve the bowel and satisfy them. If the healing process of the diseased bowel segment is completed, the surgeon can attach the two intestinal ends together and back as the belly. The normal bowel movement is restored. |
